Crayon Hearts Valentine’s Activity
Making crayon hearts is a great way to repurpose those old and broken crayons, and they are such a fun Valentine’s Day activity for little ones to create and to gift!
What do you need to make crayon hearts?
To make crayon hearts you will need any color and assortment of crayons, and a silicone heart shaped mold.
How to make heart shaped crayons
First, begin by peeling off any paper left on the crayons and breaking them down into small pieces. My daughter loves to peel and break crayons just because, so she was really into this activity!
Once all of the crayons are paper free and broken down, fill the silicone mold with your choice of crayons. I had my children each pick a few of their favorite colors to create their own special crayons.
Then, place the silicone molds onto a baking sheet, and bake the crayons at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes.
Allow the crayons to cool for about 15-20 minutes. Once they are hardened, simply pop them out of the silicone mold. Tada! You now have new beautiful crayons that you can gift as a Valentine favor, or keep for more coloring fun!
The color combinations for this activity are endless, and are completely customizable!
To gift, simply pop one or a few crayon hearts into a plastic baggie and close with a twist tie. You can add ribbon, yarn and personalized tags to make these an extra special Valentine’s Day favor.
I hope that you enjoyed this Valentine’s DIY, and that it brings a little bit of happy to your day.
Let me know if you make them too!
Lots of love,
Courtney
