Easy Turkey Cookie Activity For Kids
These fall treats are the perfect snack activity for toddlers! My kiddos and I made these Turkey Cookies for my daughter’s Thanksgiving party at daycare, but they can be made for any fall event. The best part about this little recipe is that you only need a few items to make these cute cookies, and there’s no baking required! These can be thrown together in a snap if you need something fun and easy to make for a get together or event.
What You Need To Make These Cookies
To make these Turkey Cookies you will need vanilla double stuffed Oreos, white chocolate chips, candy corn, and royal icing(or melting chocolate). You can buy pre-made royal icing or make up a quick batch at home. Candy eyes are also a good option for a quick substitute to the royal icing eyes that we did on our Turkeys.
Helpful Tips
- Double Stuf Oreos work best, because they have more filling to secure the Candy Corn.
- Use any flavor of sandwich cookie as long as it has plenty of frosted filling.
- Here I used the harvest blend of candy corn. (It’s all my nearest store had) I think it made the feathers look even more festive! (But regular candy corn is just as great!)
- Use royal icing or melted chocolate to secure the candy corn feathers or chocolate chip beak. (I had royal icing in hand, so that’s what I used)
- I also squeeze a little bit of icing in between some of the cookies if I see that they are loose.
- You can buy candy eyes or make your own using black and white royal icing.
How To Make Quick and Easy Turkey Cookies
First place 5 candy corns into the top of each cookie. Make sure to push the pieces far enough in so that they will stick, but not too far or the cookie will come open.
Next, using a small amount of icing, place a white chocolate chip in the center of the cookie. My 2 year old daughter placed all of the “beaks” on our turkeys and she was so proud to do such a big job!
Add on candy eyes, or create your own using black and white icing. We had royal icing in hand and added white dots with smaller black dots in the middle to create eyes.
Lastly, use orange icing around the white chocolate chip to create the Turkey’s “snood” Again, this can be done with a store bought icing, melting chocolate in a piping bag, or a homemade royal icing.
Enjoy your cute and yummy Turkey Cookies with family and friends this thanksgiving, or gobble up your sweet treats at home right after creating them.
I believe this will become a new little fall tradition of ours, because it was so simple and so fun to do together!
I hope that you and your little ones enjoy making this simple Thanksgiving recipe together.
